Direct Support Professionals help the people we serve with everyday activities while encouraging independence, choice, and participation in the community.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Developing respectful and supportive relationships with individuals receiving services
- Assisting with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal care, hygiene, and household responsibilities
- Providing support during community activities, appointments, recreation, and other outings
- Helping individuals work toward personal goals and develop everyday skills
- Administering medications and maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Helping maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable residential environment
- Respecting and advocating for each person's choices, dignity, preferences, and well-being
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete a national background check
- Ability to qualify as an approved company driver
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and provide mobility assistance
- Previous experience in caregiving, healthcare, behavioral health, childcare, or human services is helpful, but not required
